Shark vs. Angler: A Battle for Tuna Supremacy

The wind was still howling from Hurricane Rafael, but that wasn’t going to stop us! We kicked off our day the usual way – casting our net for pilchards in the shallows. With a livewell full of bait, Keith and the Jersey boys met us at the dock for some Tuna action.
Now, anyone serious about Tuna knows live bait is the key. And we had the key, alright! We headed out to the hump and started chumming with live bait and getting the bigger Tunas near the surface in a frenzy.
Unfortunately, the sharks were there, too, and they were hungrier than any of us! They were picking off Tunas left and right as we hooked up. Keith and the boys managed to wrestle two nice Blackfin Tunas onto the boat.

With the sharks making things a bit tricky, we switched tactics and rigged up some lures for trolling. That did the trick! We boated the rest of our Tuna limit in no time and pointed the bow towards home.
Late Season Mahi Action
I wasn’t sure if we’d find any Mahi this late in the year, but luck was on our side! We stumbled upon a floater holding a few beauties. A little bit of finesse, and we were able to add seven of those Dolphinfish to the cooler.
Strong Finish On the Wreck
To top it all off, we hit a wreck on the way back and added some colorful Mutton Snapper to the fish box. By then, Keith and the Jersey boys were definitely feeling the day’s work and ready to head in!

We got back to the Marina took some photos and fileted up a bunch of fish for them to take home. All in all, it was a wild and successful day on the water, filled with Sharks, Tuna, Mahi, and Mutton Snapper. Can’t wait for the next one!
